All healthy adults age 50 or older should get the Shingrix vaccine  The CDC recommends it for everyone 50 and older who doesn’t have a medical reason to skip it.Most people have been exposed to the chickenpox even if they didn’t actually develop symptoms.

Shingles is most common in people 50 or older who have medical conditions that keep the immune system from working properly, or people who take medicines that suppress the immune system.

If you’ve had shingles, there’s no required amount of time you have to let pass between having shingles and getting the vaccine. But in general, it’s best to wait until the shingles rash clears up.
