The Two Friends and the Bear
Kamran and Akram lived in a village. They were fast friends. They were poor and had nothing to do to get money. They were jobless. They decided to go to the city in search of some job. On a fine day, they started their journey in the morning. They promised to help each other in bad times.
Their way lay through the forest. While they were passing through the forest, they saw a bear coming towards them. They were afraid and puzzled. They were unable to think a way to cheat safeguard them from the bear. Kamran knew how to climb a tree. He wanted to save his life. His did not think of the safety of his friend and ran up a tree. His friend was alone on the mercy of the bear.
The other friend did not know how to climb a tree. He hit upon a clever plan. He had heard that the bear does not harm the dead. He lay down on the ground and held his breath. The bear came near sniffed him all over. The bear was convinced that he was dead. It left him and went away.

Kamran got down from the tree and asked his friend, “What did the bear say in your ear?” Akram replied, “The bear advised me not to trust a selfish friend.” He left Kamran there and went away in a separate way. Kamran had realized his mistake.
Moral lesson: A friend in need is a friend indeed.
